Guests from Ukraine enjoy wonderful music with us

What a privilege! A fine concert and guests from the Ukraine
Annemarie Federle (horn) and Dafydd Chapman (piano)
Bishop Auckland Methodist Church on 6th May 2022

We were delighted to welcome two Ukranian visitors to the audience at its latest concert on Friday, 6th May.
The two women are from Kharkiv and are friends of Elena Armstrong, who is a regular concertgoer with her husband John. Tatiana Ozeran endured four weeks of bombardment when war broke out in Ukraine before her son told her to leave and seek safety. Liudmyla Yakushko was on holiday in Mexico when the invasion began and was unable to return to her home country, eventually having to relocate to Bulgaria with her tour party. Elena and John decided to help them both find sponsors in our area under the 'Homes for Ukraine' scheme. Liudmyla is now settled in Wolsingham and Tatiana in Lanchester.

Both ladies are keen classical music enthusiasts and were obviously thrilled to be introduced to Annemarie Federle and Dafydd Chapman during the interval. The two talented young artists gave an exceptional concert on horn and piano.
