Triumph from the jaws of disaster

What they said....
Ionel Manciu & Ayaka Shigeno(piano)
Bishop Auckland Methodist Church on 20th August 2021

Ionel and Ayaka stepped in at only 36 hours notice to replace Katherine Bryer, booked to perform this concert, but who was unable to come because of a positive Covid test. We are most grateful.

MESSAGES FROM BAMS CONCERGOERS
"Sitting where I was, right at the front, I noticed particularly in this piece how attentive Ayaka was to Ionel's timings, even looking away from her own instrument to catch his intentions. She was also fabulous - in all the pieces - at managing the page turning herself!!".

"Just wanted to tell you how much we both enjoyed last night's concert.I am sure the original program would have been excellent, but Ionel and Ayaka were really something special! One of the very best BAMS concerts we have been to.".

"Congratulations on a very successful evening. I enjoyed talking to Ionel and Ayaka on the short drive to the Premier Inn. I expect you know that they'd only played together on a very few occasions and never the Beethoven (just a rehearsal before the performance) extraordinary. Amazing empathy, if that's the right word.".

"Thanks for working so hard and getting two very good musicians to come and play for us last night at such short notice. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed their excellent concert."

"A brilliant evening. You snatched triumph from the jaws of disaster.".
