Situated in the market town of Bishop Auckland, some twelve miles to the south-west of Durham City, the parish of St. Andrew with St. Anne comprises, as its name implies, two churches: the large 13th Century parish church of St. Andrew on the south east side of the town towards Shildon and St. Anne’s, located centrally on the Market Place not far from the entrance to Auckland Castle, the Palace of the Bishops of Durham. |
